I liked "A.J. McLean" when it was called Donnie Whalberg
Both of them were pretty wild, but both have settled down quite considerably.
I liked "Aaron Carter" when it was called Vanilla Ice
Aaron Carter is also a teen rapper, but doesn't have talent like Eminem. He's similar to Mark Marky Mark Wahlburg for being related to a member of a boy band. But his rapping & hip hop image looks really fake and pathetic like Vanilla Ice. And judging by clip from the upcoming Fat Albert movie, I doubt he'll become a successful actor like Mark Wahlburg.
I liked "About Time" when it was called Back In The High Life
Both popular albums by Steve Winwood only Back In The High Life is way better.
I liked "Access Hollywood" when it was called Entertainment Tonight
Another entertainment program that Pat The Perv O'Brien had co-hosted.
I liked "Adventures Of Chico & Guapo" when it was called Beavis & Butt-Head
New MTV2 cartoon that's basically a carbon copy of Beavis & Butt-Head
I liked "All That On Nickelodeon" when it was called You Can't Do That On Television
Both sketch shows with child stars: Alanis Morisette YCDTOTV/Amanda BynesAll That were the breakout stars.
I liked "All the forensic investigation shows" when it was called Quincy, M.E.
From 1976 through 1983, Quincy showcased the latest in real world forensic technology and methodology. They didn't have 3D computer graphics so they used the same hardware that could be found in any big city Medical Examiner's laboratory. I'd love to see a new Quincy that doesn't use any fictionalized and phony equipment or investigation methods.
I liked "The Amanda Show" when it was called You Can't Do That On Television
I never thought that the Amanda Show was very funny. I actually thought of it as a rip off of You Can't Do That On Television
I liked "America's Got Talent" when it was called The Gong Show
At least The Gong Show didn't have Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne.
I liked "American Dragon Jake Long" when it was called Batman
Both super heroes that have a fling with a girl, who also happens to the one of the hero's arch villians.
I liked "American Idol" when it was called Star Search
Same difference, bigger prizes.
I liked "American Idol" when it was called Star Search
I miss the variety and the innocence of Star Search I don't let my children watch American Idol.
I liked "American Pie" when it was called Fast Times at Ridgemont High
I liked both movies, but I felt they were really similar.
I liked "American Pie" when it was called Porky's
I'll bet the creators of American Pie" were all sitting around the TV watching Porky's. And they thought to themselves, Here's a movie we haven't ripped off yet.
I liked "Annapolis" when it was called An Officer And A Gentleman
Blatent rip-off, with James Franco, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson replacing the great Gere-Winger-Gossett cast.
I liked "Aquamarine" when it was called Splash
Both movies are about mermaids falling in love with humans.
I liked "Are We There Yet?" when it was called Planes Trains and Automobiles
Ice Cube is trying to get these troublesome kids to there mom when they have cause a lot of problems. Just like when Steve Martin is trying to get home and is stuck with John Candy the whole time.
I liked "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" when it was called Prince
He changed his name and then he went back to his old name after his recording contract with Warner Music was up. He said he changed his name as a means of "freeing himself from all undesirables", whatever the h*** that means.
I liked "Ashley Tisdale" when it was called Tiffany
Not only does Ashley Tisdale look a bit like '80's pop singer Tiffany, she's even a manufactured pop singer. Though Ashley Tisdale is a better actress.
I liked "Ashley Tisdale" when it was called Debbie Gibson
Besides being pop princesses, they have similar facial structures. Gibson could easily be Tisdale's mother, though she's not. Both are talented in their own way. Gibson with singing/writing music and Tisdale with acting, but not much of a singer.
I liked "Ashley Tisdale (Maddie)" when it was called Miyam Bialik (Blossom)
Ashley and Blossom even look the same.
I liked "Audi T(i)" when it was called Audi Quattro
Rally superstar, digital talking dashboard and classic '80s origami looks trample all over Audi's current aluminium bathtub
I liked "Avril Lavigne" when it was called Catherine Deneueve
Avril is Deneueve without the class.
I liked "Avril Lavigne" when it was called Merielle Matthieu
A couple of young French singers. Matthieu was the Lavigne of the 80s.
I liked "Axl Rose" when it was called Axl Rose
His new band is awesome. His new look is not. Take the braids off and it would be okay.
I liked "B5" when it was called New Edition
Both teen R&B singing groups.
I liked "BET Rap City: The Bassment" when it was called Yo! MTV Raps
The hosts of BET Rap City: The Basement don't hold a candle to Ed Lover & Doctor Dre.
I liked "BET's 106 And Park" when it was called BET's Video Soul
A.J. and Free are great. But Donnie Simpson is the greatest. 106 And Park will never touch Video Soul.
I liked "BP Connect" when it was called Amoco Service Station
I liked "Baby Einstein" when it was called LooneyTunes
Baby Einstein are those tapes aimed towards toddlers that play classical music. Though Looney Tunes were around way before the '80's, they featured classical music and jazz on their soundtrack. Which means that most kids, from the past 50 years, probably got their first exposure of classical music while watching Looney Tunes and didn't noticed until later.
I liked "The Bachelor" when it was called Studs
I liked "The Bachelor" when it was called Perfect Match
I liked "Backstreet Boys" when it was called New Edition
Not just Backstreet Boys, but all the rest of them!
I liked "Bad Boys" when it was called Lethal Weapon
Seriously, did you notice?
I liked "The Baltimore Ravens" when it was called The Cleveland Browns
Nothing against the current Browns team, but the older teams with Bernie Kosar, Kevin Mack and Eric Metcalf were much better before Art Modell moved the team. And yes, I would have rather the Colts stayed in Baltimore and Indianapolis had an expansion team, but both the Ravens and Colts won Super Bowls this decade. The same can't be said for the current Browns (not even close).
I liked "Band Aid 20" when it was called Band Aid
They should have left well enough alone.
I liked "Barney" when it was called Pee Wee's Playhouse
I liked "Barney" when it was called H.R. Puffinstuf
I liked "Barry Bonds" when it was called Jose Canseco
Both great sluggers in their era and have the media following them with so many allegations against them. Only a few differences; Bonds is having more press pressuring him after his record-breaking 73-homer season in 2001 (at least he can deal with the media very well and hit more than 700 career homeruns). Canseco have more press pressuring him after he made some allegations about him carrying a gun in his car, his injuries, and his steroid use in the late 1980's. He has not been as much as an effective player since he left the Oakland Athletics. If Canseco would handle the media very well and not have any injury, maybe perhaps he would have at least 500 home runs (he ended his career with 462).
I liked "Battlestar Galactica (80's)" when it was called Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Prefer the original. Although the new version is good as they have made enough changes to be different. Still, don't fix what isn't broken.
I liked "Beast Wars Transformers" when it was called Transformers
I liked "Becker" when it was called Cheers
I liked "Ben Roethlisberger" when it was called Joe Montana
Quarterbacks who won the Super Bowl in their second pro season.
I liked "Ben Wallace" when it was called Dennis Rodman
I liked "The Benchwarmers" when it was called Major League
Funny baseball movies with characters you could never imagine playing baseball.

I liked "Big Momma's House" when it was called Back to the Future
I liked "Bill Nye The Science Guy" when it was called Mr. Wizard
I liked "Blade" when it was called Blacula
I liked "Blender" when it was called Rolling Stone
Basically a second rate Rolling Stone Magazine or a third rate Spin.
I liked "Blind Date" when it was called The Dating Game
I liked "Blue Collar TV" when it was called Hee Haw
I liked "Boogeyman" when it was called A Nightmare on Elm Street
I liked "Boomerang" when it was called Cartoon Network
Boomerang is what Cartoon Network was like over 12 years ago. Much like how VH1 Classic is what MTV was in the 1980's. But with classic Hanna Barbera cartoons & Looney Tunes, which no longer airs on Cartoon Network.
I liked "Boy Meets World" when it was called The Wonder Years
Ironic that the 2 Savage brothers do the same character!!
I liked "Boyz II Men" when it was called New Edition
I liked "Brandon Flowers from The Killers" when it was called Freddie Mercury from Queen
They both look alike with the moustache.
I liked "Brandy & Mr. Whiskers" when it was called Ren & Stimpy
"Brandy & Mr. Whiskers" is a current Disney Channel cartoon that relies on gross out humor like "Ren & Stimpy". Except that "Ren & Stimpy" was much funnier & well written. BTW, "Ren & Stimpy" made it's first debut on an animation festival in 1989 before it became a TV series in 1991.
I liked "Bratz" when it was called Barbie
Barbie was so much more pure. These barely clothed, collagen surgery lips, make-up infested Bratz dolls send a horrible message to children.
I liked "The Bravery" when it was called New Order
"An Honest Mistake" sounds very similar to "Blue Monday."
I liked "Brian Mc Knight" when it was called Otis Redding
I liked "Britney & Kevin" when it was called Whitney & Bobby
Overhyped pop star couples, though Britney Spears was never a good singer like Whitney Houston and even Bobby Brown had some talent unlike Kevin Federline, who's only famous for being married to Britney.
I liked "Britney Spears" when it was called Belinda Carlisle
I liked "Britney Spears" when it was called Madonna
Besides pop music, both know how to grasp attention & being controversial in the lime light.
I liked "Britney Spears" when it was called Samantha Fox
I liked "Britney Spears" when it was called Debbie Gibson
Britney owes a huge thanks to Debbie for paving the way for her. Debbie had the catchy pop tunes(all self-penned BTW), the flashy choreography, endorsement deals, and legions of fans like Britney. Debbie was less sexy and more quirky, but it was the late 80's. Britney, thank your lucky stars that people, albeit with more talent, paved the way for trashy pop-stars like you.
I liked "Britney Spears" when it was called Cyndi Lauper
Okay, they both don't know how to match their clothes and they are both annoying, but at least Cyndi's music was good.
I liked "Britney Spears" when it was called Madonna
Love her(Britney), hate her...admit it, she has the staying power of Madonna. (Even though Maddy worked a heck of a lot more to get where she is.)
I liked "Brokeback Mountain" when it was called The Outsiders
The only difference is instead of them being greasers, they're gay cowboys!
I liked "Bubble Boy" when it was called Boy In The Plastic Bubble
Even though the new one is good, the old one was good too.
I liked "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when it was called Scooby Doo
I liked "C.O.R.P.S." when it was called G.I. JOE
I liked "CSI" when it was called Quincy
I liked "Calista Flockhart" when it was called Rosanna Arquette
they both look gaunt, but at least there is a song about Rosanna Arquette from Toto IV (1982).
I liked "Camryn Manheim" when it was called Mindy Cohn (Natalie, from The Facts of Life)
I liked "Carmelo Anthony" when it was called Bernard King
I liked "Carmelo Anthony" when it was called Clyde Drexler
I liked "Carson Daly" when it was called Casey Kasem
Casey Kasem wasn't as annoying.
I liked "Carson Daly" when it was called Arsenio Hall
Both hosts were once widely popular, but lack interviewing skills. At least Arsenio Hall was funny.
I liked "Cartoon Network's Adult Swim" when it was called MTV
Cartoon Network's 'Adult Swim' is a block of animated shows aimed towards teens & adults. MTV used to air animated shows that weren't meant for children during the 1990's like "Beavis & Butt-Head", "Liquid Televison", "Aeon Flux", etc. Though now it only airs countless reality shows & dumb specials. Not to mention lacking music videos. Though I compared 'Adult Swim' to MTV because animation geared towards adults weren't that popular with exception of "The Simpsons".
I liked "Castaway" when it was called Joe Versus the Volcano
Editor's note: Both movies starred Tom Hanks.
I liked "The Castle" when it was called Young Einstein
I liked "Center Stage" when it was called Fame
A bunch of kids struggle to make it at a famous performing arts shcool. One scene in Center Stage shows a guidance counselor telling a girl he doesn't think she's cut out for the dance program. She begs to stay because she loves to dance. This is the EXACT same scene that happens in Fame!
I liked "Chandler Bing" when it was called Johnny from "Airplane"
Could Chandler BE any more like Johnny?
I liked "Chandler Bing" when it was called Johnny from "Airplane"
Could Chandler BE any more like Johnny?
I liked "Chat Rooms" when it was called The Telephone
I liked "Chauncey, Rip, Rasheed, Tayshaun and Ben" when it was called Isiah, Worm, Dumars, Laimbeer and Vinnie
I liked "Chris Farley" when it was called John Candy
I liked "Chris Farley" when it was called John Belushi
The ironic part is that they both died at the age of 33.
I liked "Christina Aguilara" when it was called Madonna
Miss UGHuilara, please leave the Marilyn Monroe act to Madonna.
I liked "Chuck E. Cheese" when it was called ShowBiz Pizza
Seriously, I'd rather see "The Rock-afire Explosion" again than this "Studio C" crap that passes for a show these days. Not to mention the redemption games to arcade games ratio was the opposite of what it is now. AND they served beer to those who were leagal.
I liked "Chuck E. Cheese" when it was called Chuck E. Cheeseā€TMs Pizza Time Theatre
Yes, the Chuck E. Cheese of the 80s (and late 70s) is a far cry from the place that now essentially only uses the name and a grey mouse for a mascot. Back then, there was a somewhat large group of robotic entertainers (known as "The Pizza Time Players"), and there were more arcade games (e.g. Galaga, Pac-Man, Millipede, etc.) than ticket-giving games, the polar opposite of what today's Chuck E. Cheese patrons encounter.
I liked "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah" when it was called the Talking Heads
The lead singer of CYHSY sounds almost exactly like David Byrne AND CYHSY's music is SO very inspired by the Talking Heads' music. Well, if "very inspired by" means "a total ripoff of"...
I liked "Classic VH1's The Alternative" when it was called 120 Minutes
They both play alternative videos.
I liked "Clockstoppers" when it was called Back to the Future
Teenagers screwing around with a mad scientist's time machine....same plot, different decade.
I liked "Clueless" when it was called Emma
I'm mentioning 'Emma' the novel, not movie. 'Clueless' was loosely based off the novel(which is good, by the way).
I liked "Clueless" when it was called Valley Girl
I liked "Clueless" when it was called Valley Girl
I liked "Coke Zero" when it was called New Coke
Taste Coke Zero again, it didn't steal Classic Coke's taste. They simply recycled the New Coke and added more aspartame (Nutrasweet).
I liked "Cold Creek Manor" when it was called Pacific Heights
Both about psychos trying to take over a house.
I liked "Coldplay" when it was called U2
Coldplay is good, but they mimic U2 right down to the bass lines.
I liked "Coldplay" when it was called A-Ha
Coldplay are good fans of A-Ha, and I believe they're music is influenced by A-Ha.
I liked "Colin Farrell" when it was called Matt Dillon
I liked "Compaq Presario" when it was called Commodore 64

Both movies about trying to stop the end of the world.

I liked "Crash Bandicoot" when it was called Super Mario Brothers
I liked "Creed" when it was called R.E.M.
I liked "A Current Affair" when it was called A Current Affair
No way they should have revised this pioneering news program with an ex-jock former Atlanta Falcon Tim Green of all people. Bring back Maury Povich and cancel Maury's talk show, please!
I liked "DVD" when it was called VHS
Even though VHS still exists, DVD will probably eventually make VHS go obsolete. And for those of you who own a whole wall of prerecorded VHS videos like I do, you would hate to reinvest all the money spent on your prerecorded videos for the same material on DVD--plus a DVD player.
I liked "DVD" when it was called Capacitance Electronic Discs (CED)
I remember these old players and how cool they were. You put the disc holder in the front, it would pop back out and your movie would play!
I liked "DVD" when it was called Beta Tapes
I liked "DVD-R" when it was called Blank tapes
Both useful to tape stuff on tv.
I liked "Daft Punk" when it was called Kraftwerk
They both make electronic music and provide a "robotic" look from those bands (plus, they are both European).
I liked "The Daily Show " when it was called Not The Nine O'Clock News
For those interested, "Not Necessarily the News" was a rip off of the British show, "Not the Nine O'Clock News".
I liked "Dale Earnhardt Jr." when it was called Dale Earnhardt Sr.
I liked "Dale Earnhardt, Jr" when it was called Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Dale Earnhardt JUNIOR was NEVER known as "Dale Earnhardt Sr". Dale Earnhardt (the elder) was NEVER known as Dale Earnhardt SENIOR. The doofusses who took over the sport formerly known as NASCAR penned the term because it seemed easier than saying Dale Earnhardt and Junior. Well, now that Dale Earnhardt is gone, I guess there's no confusion. :\
I liked "Dan Dickerson and Jim Price" when it was called Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey
Detroit Tigers radio announcers
I liked "Dance 360" when it was called Dance Fever
I liked "Dance Dance Revolution" when it was called Nintendo Power Pad
The Power Pad was an NES periphrial that never really caught on (pretty much the only reason most people had one was that it came bundled with their console). Yet nearly a decade later, Konami introduces "Dance Dance Revolution" (DDR to most), which uses the same concept, and it's a hit!
I liked "Danny Phantom" when it was called Ghostbusters
They both involve catching ghosts.
I liked "Dave Chapelle" when it was called Eddie Murphy
I liked "David Beckham" when it was called Pele
Top international soccer stars ending their careers in a US pro league and making an impact to the nation (Beckham with the MLS, Pele with the NASL). Let's hope that the MLS will still be around in the next generation.
I liked "David Gallagher from 7th Heaven" when it was called Chad Allen from Our House
Both are decent actors, but they looked eerily similar, and these two shows followed on the same premise. However, Chad Allen became gay, didn't he?
I liked "David Spade" when it was called Eddie Murphy
I liked "Dawson's Creek" when it was called The Waltons
The only difference: The Walton kids never had sex with each other (or anyone else).
I liked "Dawson's Creek" when it was called Saved by the Bell
I liked "Dawson's Creek" when it was called 90210
I liked "Dawsons Creek" when it was called The Wonder Years
They have basically the same charaters and the Years was a funny show.
I liked "DeWayne Wade" when it was called Joe Dumars
I liked "DeWayne Wade" when it was called Jpe Dumars
I liked "Dead Silence" when it was called Child's Play
I liked "Deal Or No Deal" when it was called Treasure Hunt
Two game shows with a similar concept, though "Deal or No Deal" has contestants of both genders unlike "Treasure Hunt" which only ever had female contestants for some reasons.
I liked "Deborah Gibson" when it was called Debbie Gibson
Unfortunately, most people still look at her as the cute pop princess from the past than the talented artist she is now. "Debbie Gibson" was a cute pop princess with hits like "Only In My Dreams" & "Lost In Your Eyes" and them grew up as "Deborah Gibson", which she stated that she never liked the name 'Debbie', who's a beautiful stage actress and still puts out great music, though not as famous than her "Electric Youth".
I liked "Deep Blue Sea" when it was called Jaws
Who wants to watch it all over again?
I liked "Degrassi The New Generation" when it was called Degrassi Junior High
I liked "Degrassi: The Next Generation" when it was called Degrassi Junior High
I liked "Derek Jeter" when it was called Ozzie Smith

The only difference is that the characters on "Desperate Housewives" are middle class. The rest is mostly the same cliches from any prime time drama.
I liked "Detroit Red Wings" when it was called Edmonton Oilers
I liked "Dharma and Greg" when it was called Family Ties
Family ties had liberal parents (and Berkeley graduates) with conservative kids. Dharma comes from a liberal family (she herself is a Berkeley grad, I think) but her husband is conservative from a conservative family.
I liked "Diagnosis Murder" when it was called Quincy
I liked "Diary Of A Mad Black Woman" when it was called The Color Purple
I liked "Dirk Nowitzki" when it was called Detlef Schrempf
I liked "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights" when it was called Dirty Dancing
"Havana Nights" wasn't quite as sexy.
I liked "The Disney Channel" when it was called Nickelodeon
The Disney Channel is now a network aimed towards kids & tweens, much like Nickelodeon, instead of a "Family Channel" knockoff it was in the '80's/'90's with shows aimed towards toddlers in the day time, original cartoons, and kiddie sitcoms. The only difference is that Nickelodeon also aired classic shows (other than from Nick at Nite) and game shows.
I liked "Disturbed's Shout" when it was called Tears For Fears' Shout
I don't even like this cover very much. I mean if you're going to cover a poppy kind of techno song you might as well be good at singing it.
I liked "The Division" when it was called Cagney and Lacey
I liked "Don't Forget The Lyrics" when it was called Name That Tune
Although I still prefer Wayne Brady over Kathie Lee Gifford (who was Kathie Lee Johnson when she sang on Name That Tune).

I liked "Drake and Josh" when it was called Kenan and Kel
Series that was a spin off to a popular TV show.
I liked "Drawn Together" when it was called The Real World
Like "Fatherhood" to "The Cosby Show", "Drawn Together" ia an animated version of "The Real World". But with more crass humour.
I liked "Dude, Where's My Car?" when it was called Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
Both feature slacker-types with a ton of modern slang on a ridiculous adventure!
I liked "Dukes Of Hazzard" when it was called Smokey & The Bandit
I know "Dukes Of Hazzard" is a remake of the TV show, but the original TV show was based from movies like "Smokey & The Bandit", therefore "The Dukes of Hazzard" movie is sort of like a rip off from a TV show that has a similar premise of a popular movie.
I liked "Dungeons & Dragons" when it was called The Princess Bride
I liked "Dwayne Wade" when it was called Isiah Thomas
I liked "E! Entertainment Television" when it was called VH1
VH1 is now basically a clone of E.

I liked "The Eels" when it was called They Might Be Giants
I liked "Elimidate" when it was called The Love Connection
I liked "Elizabeth Hurley" when it was called Kelly LeBrock
I liked "Ellen Page" when it was called Linda Cardellini
They both could be dead ringers to each other, but I am going for Linda because she played Lindsay Weir on Freaks and Geeks.
I liked "Emeril Lagasse" when it was called Justin Wilson
Both Lagasse and Wilson sought to popularize Louisianian cooking, though Wilson was actually *from* LA and wasn't overexposed (as a PBS personality, how could he be?).
I liked "Eminem" when it was called Vanilla Ice
I liked "Eminem" when it was called Vanilla Ice
I liked "Endurance" when it was called Super Sloppy Double Dare
It's the same concept in both shows: kids doing stupid things for money.

Both cartoons featured a lead character that tries to 'take over the world', but always screw up with a bumbling sidekick.
I liked "Evolution" when it was called Ghostbusters
Both Directed by Ivan Reitman.
I liked "Extra" when it was called A Current Affair
At least Extra doesn't have that cloying Leeza Gibbons anymore.
I liked "Extreme Home Makeover" when it was called This Old House
I liked "Extreme Measures" when it was called Coma
I liked "The Faculty" when it was called The Breakfast Club
The only difference is its TBC meets sci-fi. The characters are the same--the jock, the brain, the basketcase, the princess, and the criminal.
I liked "Fairly Oddparents" when it was called The Littles
Same plot on most episodes of both series, a boy protecting "imaginary beings" from some greedy hunter. The only difference is that "Fairly Oddparents" is slightly funnier.

I liked "The Fast and the Furious" when it was called Banzai Runner
I liked "Fastlane" when it was called Miami Vice

I liked "Frasier" when it was called Cheers
I liked "Frasier" when it was called Cheers

I liked "Freaks and Geeks" when it was called Square Pegs
I liked "Freaky Friday" when it was called Like Father Like Son
I liked "Freddie Prinze, Jr." when it was called Jonathan Silverman
How did either of these guys ever get work?
I liked "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" when it was called Silver Spoons
Both rich families with kids, even Alfonso Ribero played in both sitcoms.
I liked "Friends" when it was called Seinfeld
Seinfeld wasnt exactly an 80s series, but Friends was definetly a rip-off of it
I liked "FuseTV" when it was called MTV's Headbanger's Ball/Alternative Nation
FuseTV is mostly rock music programming 24 hours a day. At least hard rock fans have a music channel to tune into instead of MTV today. MTV2 only has fewer hours dedicated to rock.
I liked "Futurama" when it was called The Jetsons
I liked "G-Unit" when it was called Run D.M.C.
I liked "G-Unit" when it was called NWA
I liked "GI Jane" when it was called Top Gun
I liked "GI Joe Sigma 6" when it was called GI Joe: A Real American Hero
Or GI Joe: Extreme. Take your pick but it's still not as good as the original.
I liked "Galaxy Quest" when it was called Spaceballs
I liked "Gamecube" when it was called NES
Nintendo current and the system that made them famous. Personally, I have more fun on the NES than the Gamecube.

I liked "Glory Road " when it was called Hoosiers
Both movies based on true stories of small town basketball teams going from nothing to winning it all.
I liked "Godsmack" when it was called KISS
I liked "Good Charlotte" when it was called Nelson
Nelson is the worst hairband as for Good Charlotte being the worst band of the pop punk genre. Enough said. And strangly, Benji & Joel, from Good Charlotte, are also twins like the Nelson brothers.
I liked "Grey's anotomy" when it was called St. elswhere
No love drama but medical drama
I liked "Guns N Roses" when it was called The Eagles

(No offense to Happy Gilmore, which was a GREAT movie, but both films are about golfing, only Gilmore didn't have that annoying gopher that made dolphin noises!)
I liked "Happy Tree Friends" when it was called Itchy & Scratchy
Both contain twisted, gross out, & violent humor that contain gore, unlike most Warner Bros & MGM cartoons of the '40's.
I liked "Hawaii" when it was called Miami Vice
Am I the only one who noticed? White local cop, black cop from another city, hot female comrade, native supervisor. The only one missing is Calderon! OTOH, I've missed MV so much, having a similar show on helps.
I liked "Hercules : The Legandary Journeys" when it was called Hercules (the animated series)
I liked "Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi" when it was called Pink Lady & Jeff
"Pink Lady & Jeff" was a show that featured an international pop group called "Pink Lady" and was, still is, considered one of the all time worst TV shows ever made. "Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi" is a current cartoon featuring the music of the Japanese pop group. (The voices are provided by voice over artists) But it's too early to predict the success of the show & I'm not in their age demographic (mostly teenyboppers, based on reviews/comments on the Toon Zone forums). Personally, I think most tv shows based on celebrities (varity, reality, cartoons, sitocms. etc.),are plain bad.
I liked "Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi" when it was called Jem
"Hi Hi Puffy Yumi" is a current cartoon about a female pop band. Much like Jem except that Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi is an actual band who're huge in Japan instead of a toy tie in like "Jem". Though, personally, I'll stick to "Josie & The Pussycats", a popular '70's cartoon about an all female rock band.
I liked "Hi5" when it was called The Mickey Mouse Club
I liked "Hide And Seek" when it was called Poltergeist

Both are medical dramas.
I liked "The Hunt for Red October" when it was called Firefox
I liked "The Hunted" when it was called Rambo: First Blood
Since there are "like" a zillion movies called THE HUNTED, this is the new one with Tommy Lee Jones and Benecio Del Toro. Maybe the worst rip off since Unhappily Ever After ripped off Married with Children.
I liked "I Love The 80's" when it was called The News

All they did was switch programs for robots [walking programs]. The exact same story.

Both have soundtracks that are popular than the movies themselves. However, I will always love "Xanadu".
I liked "Independence Day" when it was called Aliens
I liked "The Indiannapolis Colts" when it was called The Baltimore Colts
Not a movie, but a lost legacy. Bob Irsay still sucks. [Ed.'s note: Even when he's dead?]
I liked "Indy Racing League (IRL)" when it was called United States Auto Club (USAC)
I liked "The Insider" when it was called Entertainment Tonight
Not be confused with the movie with Al Pacino and Russell Crowe, the TV series features Pat O'Brien, ironically a former host of "E.T." and "Access Hollywood".
I liked "Internet" when it was called Bulletin Board System (BBS)
I liked "It's All Relative" when it was called All In The Family
A blatent rehash. Even in death, Carroll O'Connor outacts Lenny Clarke.
I liked "J-Lo (with Ja Rule)" when it was called Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam (with Full Force)
I liked "JAG" when it was called Top Gun
If you look at some of the aerial scenes in JAG, you'll see that they're directly ripped off from Top Gun.
I liked "Ja-Rule" when it was called 2Pac

Both are NFL running backs who rushed for 2,000 yards in a season.
I liked "Jamie Foxx" when it was called Eddie Murphy

I liked "Jerry Springer" when it was called WWF Wrestling
I liked "Jesse Camp" when it was called Pauly Shore
I liked "Jessica Simpson's I Think I'm In Love" when it was called John Cougar Mellancamp's Jack And Diane
(The background music from her song was stolen from one the best songs ever made!)
I liked "Jessica Simpson" when it was called Kelly Bundy
The only difference is that "Kelly Bundy" is a fictional character. And Jessica Simpson might really be ditzy.
I liked "Jessica Simpson" when it was called Tiffany
Are they both really "Goodie Two Shoes?" Yuck!!!!
I liked "Jet" when it was called Iggy Pop
Compare "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" to "Lust for Life." It sounds very similar.
I liked "Jim Carrey" when it was called Robin Williams
I liked "Jo Jo" when it was called Debbie Gibson
Jo Jo is a current teen pop singer. The only difference is that Debbie, now a Broadway actress that goes by 'Deborah', wrote & produced her own material and played instruments.
I liked "Joan of Arcadia" when it was called Touched By An Angel
I liked "Joey House" when it was called Tawny Kitaen
Joey House, from Bowling For Soup's video "1985", looks similar to Tawney Kitaen. Not to mention she did her trademark splits on the hood of a car on the mentioned "1985" music video. Though the "Here I Go Again" (Whitesnake) video was from 1987. Besides that, both looked hot in those music videos.
I liked "Joey Tribbani" when it was called Vinnie Verducci
It's still a Matt LeBlanc character (from "Top of the Heap") with the same formula. A good looking, but half-witted, person that stuck in the middle of a bunch of very pretty girls.
I liked "Joey Tribbiani" when it was called Tony Danza
Tony did the Joey thing in both "Taxi" AND "Who's The Boss?"
I liked "John Edwards" when it was called Dan Quayle
I liked "John Kerry" when it was called Walter Mondale
I liked "John Madden" when it was called Howard Cosell
I liked "The Johnson Family Vacation" when it was called National Lampoon's Vacation

I liked "Josie and the Pussycats" when it was called Josie and the Pussycats
When it was rated G.

Error correct: The show is titled "Jump Cuts", not "Short Jumps".
I liked "Jump Five" when it was called The Jets
I liked "Justin Timberlake" when it was called Michael Jackson
I liked "Juwanna Man" when it was called Tootsie
Same plot, only with basketball instead of acting.
I liked "Ken Jennings" when it was called Thom McKee
These two contestants went on won a lot of $$$ and won consecutives games in a row and were record breaking moments too. Thom was on Tic Tac Dough in 1980 and won $312,750 in cash and prizes including 8 new cars winning 43 straight games. Ken won over $2.5 million on Jeopardy! in 2004 and a new car winning 74 straight games. They both came back later to play in the Tournament of Champions for both shows they were on and both lost in the Championship game.
I liked "Kids Bop" when it was called Kids Incorporated
I liked "The Killers" when it was called Duran Duran
The Killers is like an imitation or 2000's Duran Duran. They bring Duran Duran's sound to the millenium era. Great job!
I liked "King of the Hill" when it was called Roseanne
I liked "King of the Hill" when it was called The Simpsons
I liked "Kirk Hinrich" when it was called John Stockton
Even though Kirk is 6'3 and John was 6'1, John was a better point guard.
I liked "Kobe Bryant" when it was called Michael Jordan
I liked "Kobe Bryant" when it was called Michael Jordan
The Original can never be replaced.
I liked "Krumping" when it was called Breakdancing
I liked "Kyle X.Y." when it was called D.A.R.Y.L.
'A young boy is found wandering without any memory of who he is. A family takes him in and begin to look for clues to help him find his way home. In the meantime, they notice that the boy seems to have certain special abilities, not usually found in kids his age, or even fully-grown adults.' The movie is better. It has the action without all the Dawson-Creek angst.
I liked "Lake Placid" when it was called Jaws
I liked "Laptop" when it was called Swyft Portable
I liked "Laserdisc" when it was called Beta Video Recorders
Both had but 15 minutes of fame.

Actually, A Little Princess movie 1995 is based on a book from the turn of the 19th century, thus was copyrighted 80 years before Annie.
I liked "Live 8" when it was called Live Aid
20th anniversary of the historic benefit concert. Just bought the "Live Aid" DVD, I was a baby when it happened, and I agree with most people that nothing beats the original. Some of the original artists like U2, Elton John, and Paul McCartney are on "Live 8", along with several of my favorite current bands, but I don't think it has the same magic. Though still for a good cause and "Live Aid" probably started the whole benefit concert idea to push awareness of serious issues like sending food, health care, etc. to third world countries.
I liked "Living Single" when it was called 227
I liked "Lizzie McGuire" when it was called Square Pegs
I liked "Lizzy Maguire/Hannah Montana" when it was called Punky Brewster
Very popular among young viewers.
I liked "London Tipton" when it was called Blair Warner
Though London Tipton (Brenda Song) from "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" is mostly based on a certain hotel heiress, she's also spoiled like Blair Warner from "The Facts of Life".
I liked "Loonatics" when it was called Tiny Tunes Adventures
Cartoons based on the classic Looney Tunes characters, except that "Tiny Tunes" stated true to the classic Warner Bros. formula and even had classic characters like Bugs, Daffy, Taz, etc. in several cameo appearaces. While "Loonatics" completely butchered the classic characters into cheesy futuristic super heroes aimed towards "today's kids", which unfortunately, Looney Tunes had entertained most people from all age ranges in the 20th century. Fortunately, "Looney Tunes" & "Tiny Tunes Adventures" could be seen on reruns or DVD.
I liked "Looney Tunes Back In Action" when it was called Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Though "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was a better movie & had better actors.
I liked "The Lord Of The Rings" when it was called Conan The Barbarian
I liked "Lost" when it was called Woops!
"Woops!" was a dumb sitcom about a couple survivors trying to survive a nuclear holocaust. Much like the characters from "Lost" have to survive an unknown island. Not to mention both being bad shows.
I liked "Louis Farrakhan" when it was called Malcolm X
I liked "Love Don't Cost A Thing" when it was called Can't Buy Me Love
I liked "Love Don't Cost A Thing" when it was called Can't Buy Me Love
Both are about a geek who bribes the popular girl into pretending she's going out with them. She changes who they are and turns them into jerks. In the end, the guy realizes he was a jerk and becomes himself again and gets the girl.
I liked "Love Don't Cost A Thing" when it was called Can't Buy Me Love
This movie is an EXACT replica of the 80's version, only with different characters and a ghetto twist. The story line is identical.
I liked "Love Don't Cost a Thing" when it was called Can't Buy Me Love
Patrick Dempsey will always be the original Ronald Miller!

I liked "M. Night Shyamalan" when it was called Alfred Hitchcock

I liked "MTV's Sink or Swim" when it was called The Gong Show
Okay, so The Gong Show was seventies, but it ended in 1980 so it should still count.
I liked "MTV2" when it was called MTV
I hate that MTV has turned into a game show/reality TV station. I thought the "M" in MTV stood for "music".
I liked "MTV2 Video Mods" when it was called DTV
"Video Mods" is a show on MTV2 that have video game characters 'performing' popular songs. 'DTV' was a buch of clips from vintage Disney cartoons mixed into a popular song, in form of a music video, and aired on The Disney Channel inbetween movies and tv shows.

I liked "Macy's" when it was called Jordan Marsh
I liked Macy's when it was called Jordan Marsh.
I liked "Mad TV" when it was called In Living Color
I liked "Mad TV" when it was called Saturday Night Live
I liked "Maddie" when it was called David Spade
About time Spade has a current equivalent. Like Spades' famous sarcastic receptionist bit from "Saturday Night Live", Maddie, played by Ashley Tisdale also works behind a counter and says sardonic/smart_ss remarks to people, including a 12 year-old who have a crush on her and a snobby hotel heiress. Also similar: Her uniform looks similar to the clothes Spade wore as "Dennis Finch" on the '90's sitcom "Just Shoot Me" (a light blue work shirt).
I liked "Maddie (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody)" when it was called Andrea (Beverly Hills 90210)
Andrea from "Beverly Hills 90210" is slightly similar to the character of Maddie from "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody". Both are smart, but pretty and played by actresses who are older than the characters they portrayed. Ashley Tisdale is 20, but plays a 15 year old and the actresses who played Andrea (Gabrielle Carteris) was in her early 30's when she played the teeanger.
I liked "Malcolm in the Middle" when it was called Married with Children
I liked "The Man Show" when it was called No Ma'am (from Married... With Children)

I liked "The Man Show" when it was called No Ma'am (from Married... With Children)
Both are mainly about beer, dirty mags, sports, and other "manly" stuff.
I liked ""Man, I Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain" when it was called "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper
Both songs have the same general idea. However, Cyndi Lauper was not obviously a country singer trying to make it big on the contemporary charts, and I still prefer her song to Shania's.
I liked "Mandy Moore Coverage" when it was called Tiffany (self titled)
Both albums that mostly contain cover songs from a teen pop singer who were either a baby or weren't born when the original songs were released. Not to mention the originals (Beatles, Tommy James covered in "Tiffany" & XTC, Elton John, Blondie covered in Moore's "Coverage") are far better than the covers, IMHO.
I liked "Marshall Field's" when it was called Hudson's
A great department store in Detroit. Hudson's got bought up by Target, and they changed Hudsons to Marshall Field. There used to be was a huge Hudson's store downtown, but it shut down in '83, when I was born.
I liked "Marvin Harrison" when it was called Jerry Rice
I liked "The Mask of Zorro" when it was called The Three Musketeers

They look strikingly similar.
I liked "The Matrix" when it was called Sneakers
I liked "The Matrix" when it was called Tron
I liked "The Matrix" when it was called Blade
Not exactly from the 80s, but heck!! Blade even has the same bullet sequence with the rings behind it! Nobody acknowledges that. Why you gotta waste my flava??
I liked "The Matrix" when it was called Terminator
I liked "Mean Creek" when it was called Stand By Me
Same plot, same length, it is just too close to each other.
I liked "Mean Girls" when it was called The Breakfast Club
It's kinda like the same except "The Breakfast Club" had all different kinds of clicks. [Ed.'s note: I think Ashley has her source material mixed up. "Mean Girls" had all the chicks. "The Breakfast Club" only had 2 that I know of.]
I liked "Men in Black" when it was called Ghostbusters
MiB ripped off everything good and Aykroydian... The black suits an obvious rip off of the blues brothers and they should have called Men in Black: Ghostbusters 3
I liked "Michael Buble" when it was called Harry Connick Jr.
Both are jazz singers.
I liked "Michael Kelso from That 70's Show" when it was called Vinnie Barbarino from Welcome Back, Kotter
I liked "Michael Vick" when it was called Randall Cunningham
At least Randall can throw like a quarterback and he was one of the best multi-task QBs of all-time. Michael Vick is basically a running back calling the shots.
I liked "Michel Gerard (Yannic Truesdale)" when it was called Benson DuBois (Robert Guillaume)
Michel is the sardonic butler from "Gilmore Girls". Benson is the sardonic butler from "Soap" and "Benson". Actually, Benson was witty and Michel is an a**hole.
I liked "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" when it was called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
MMPR was a cheap knock-off.
I liked "Mimi from The Drew Carey Show" when it was called Louie from Taxi

I liked "Monica Geller" when it was called Felix Unger
I liked "Monster House" when it was called The Monster Squad
Both movies deal with kids under 12 years old dealing with scary situations with haunted houses. The only difference I can think of right now is that MH is animated and TMS is live-action that. TMS is IMO is better!
I liked "Monster House" when it was called The 'burbs
Just take away Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, and the fat guy from Scary Movie and add the CGI animated kids and poof it's a computer animated version of Joe Dante's cult classic "The 'burbs".
I liked "Montel Williams" when it was called Geraldo
I liked "Mp3 Files" when it was called Cassette Tapes
I liked "Mr. 3000" when it was called Major League

I liked "Much Music" when it was called MTV
I liked "The Mummy" when it was called Raiders of the Lost Ark
I liked "Munch's Make-Believe Band" when it was called The Rock-aFire Explosion
The latter was the animatronic "house band" for Showbiz Pizza, the former what the RAE was forced to become as a result of "concept unification" (i.e. when Showbiz merged with Chuck E. Cheese).
I liked "Mutant X" when it was called The Misfits of Science.

The only difference is that "My Life as a Teenage Robot" is a cartoon.

I liked "NWA-TNA" when it was called WCW

Blue eyed soul singers. Though Natasha Bedingfield is a better singer than Tina Marie, IMHO.
I liked "National Treasure" when it was called The Goonies
I liked "Nellie McKay" when it was called Sinead O'Connor
Both singers are very political and have a cocky personality. Except that McKay has a mouth of a pirate.
I liked "Nellie McKay" when it was called Tori Amos

I liked "Norah Jones" when it was called Sade
I liked "North Shore" when it was called The Love Boat
I liked "Not Another Teen Movie" when it was called The Breakfast Club (or any other John Hughes teen Film)
Well, the fact that in the end credits "Don't You Forget About Me" is playing is one point. But, Molly Ringwald actually makes a cameo in the movie! NATM also rips off a ton of scenes from old teen movies, there are other things too.
I liked "Now & Then" when it was called Stand By Me
I liked "Now And Then " when it was called Stand By Me
So four kids go messing wtih dead people and it describes they're adventures along the way. Sound familiar???

They have done almost as many movies together.

Even commercials on TV today would have been rated X in the 80's!!!

Both are famous despite the fact that they don't have a definable talent.
I liked "Paris Hilton" when it was called Samantha Fox
I liked "Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie" when it was called Beavis and Butthead
Except B&B are funny. And much smarter.
I liked "Pass The Buck" when it was called Press Your Luck
The Price Is Right has a new game called Pass the Buck, which, though it shares its name with a short-lived Bill Cullen game show from the 70s, the game is actually more of a low-tech, single-player version of Press Your Luck. Just replace the part involving the prices of grocery products with the asking of questions and replace the red circle on the board that says lose everything with a Whammy.
I liked "Passions" when it was called Another World
NBC soap operas. "Another World" aired at 2:00 in most TV markets. It ended its run in the summer of 1999, when "Passions" took over AW's time slot.
I liked "Passions" when it was called Days of Our Lives
I liked "Paul Mooney" when it was called Richard Pryor
I liked "Paul Walker" when it was called Keanu Reeves
Both are popular good-looking actors whom seem to come off as surfer boys when they act. However, Keanu Reeves has broken out as a serious actor with movies like Little Buddha, My Own Private Idaho and The Matrix Trilogies.

I liked "The Proud Family" when it was called The Simpsons
Suprisingly similar in content. Like Homer Simpson, Oscar Proud is a henpecked husband who tries his best to raise a family. Like Grampa Abe Simpson, the grandmother is ashamed of the son. The same with the rest of the family in a couple episodes. Penny Proud is like a mixture of Bart & Lisa. She's a brat like Bart, but isn't "cool" like Lisa. Even some the characters are like The Simpsons like Wizard Kelly, who's a greedy businessman like Mr. Burns & Lacienga, the unforunate J. Lo caricature, is like Nelson, Bart's enemy. Like "The Simpsons" with many celebrity cameos, many African American celebrities guest "voiced" on the show. Unlike "The Simpsons", the show is too corny is aimed towards the tween audience instead of a broader audience. Not to mention "The Simpsons" longevity.
I liked "The Proud Family" when it was called Family Matters
I liked "Public Domain DVDs" when it was called Public Domain video tapes
Despite being on an digital format, it still have the crummy sound & poor, or fair, picture quality. Goes for every tv show, cartoon, commercial, movie compilation set.
